FAQ

Q: How can I register and subscribe?

A: A new user can register and subscribe via the following link: Click here to register and subscribe to the Chi-X Dataservice. The registration process consists of the user entering their details and then the selection of the subscription information. An email would be sent to the user confirming their email address that was entered, with a link back to the Chi-X website. Once the user email has been confirmed, the Chi-X administrator will authorise access for the user to the website.

Q: What data is available via this service?

A: Chi-X orders and trades data from 1 November 2008 is available for custom downloads via the website and FTP. You can also replay and view the order book and last 10 trades at any historical point in time via the online rebuild orderbook service.

Q: What services are available?

A: Currently we are offering a yearly subscription to two services: a) Rebuild historical order books and b) Historical Data Service. The subscription and access to data for both services starts on the 1st of the current month (or the 1st day of the next month) and is valid for a period of one year. It is also possible to add the complete history to your subscription giving you access from 1 November 2008.

Q: I have decided that I would like to take out a subscription to one or more of the Chi-X DataService products. What should I do next?

A: Please go through the registration process on the website and you will be given a site login. At this stage you will not have access to any data. Chi-X will be informed of your registration and will be in touch to confirm your details, send you an agreement and take payment details. Once this is completed your login will be provided permission to access the services requested.

Q: If my company takes out multiple user licenses for any data products, how can we administer the user access?

A: In the event that a firm opts to take multiple licences (and hence multiple logins) then the person who initially requests access to the site is nominated the “administrative” user for their firm. This gives them the ability to add and remove users from the list of authorised personnel allowed to access the site, up to the maximum number of users that the firm has subscribed to. In the event that the administrative user leaves, then Chi-X should be contacted. Chi-X will amend the permissioning as required.

Q: Is there an online demo of the service?

A: Yes, to view a demo of the rebuild orderbook and the download files provided by the Chi-X DataService, please go to the Demo section of the site.

Q:What time-zone is the data provided in?

A: All time stamps shown are in UK time.

Q: Which data fields are available in the historical download files?

A: Please refer to the Chi-X DataService Data Overview page (click here).

Q: How do I know which historical data packages I am subscribing to?

A: The details of your subscription can be found on the subscription details page. Click on the ‘My Account’ menu link. All information related to subscriptions and licence allocation can be found on the subscription information page.

Q: How do I renew my subscription?

A: A reminder message will be shown on the Chi-X DataService home page before your current subscription expires. Follow the link to your subscription details page, where you will find a button to renew your subscription. On clicking this, Chi-X will be informed and will contact you shortly.

Q: What browser do I need to access the service?

A: The Chi-X data service has been developed to be best viewed in Internet Explorer (v7) or Firefox (v3) .
